An air source heat pump uses a condensed form of vapor-concentrated air to generate heat. The condensed air is in the form of a very hot liquid which is drawn into an air handler where the temperature is regulated and the liquid is then compressed further. Air source heat pumps are therefore often compared to water heaters, albeit the latter uses a solvent refrigerant rather than an oil solution.
