Samsung Lions pitcher Won Tae-in, 24, has successfully completed his comeback from injury.

Won Tae-in started the game against SSG Landers in the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on April 19 and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts in six innings.

After giving up a leadoff single to Choi Ji-hoon in the top of the first inning, Won struck out Choo Shin-soo and threw out Choi stealing second base to record the first two outs. Choi then grounded out to the third baseman. The second and third innings ended with a triple play.

In the top of the fourth inning, Won Tae-in walked Choo Shin-soo and got Choi Jung to fly out to center field, but Guillermo Heredia grounded out to second base, allowing Choo Shin-soo to advance to third, putting runners on second and third. Han Yoo-seom then hit a single to center field to give Korea the lead. Park Sung-eun grounded out to the pitcher to end the fourth inning.

Won Tae-in looked shaky in the fifth inning. The leadoff hitter, Kim Min-sik, singled to shortstop and was followed by a walk to Ko Myung-joon. Park Ji-hwan laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on second and third, but Won got both Choi Ji-hoon and Choo Shin-soo to ground out to first base to end the threat. But in the sixth inning, with the score tied at 1-1, he walked Choi Jung to lead off the inning. Heredia induced an infield grounder to shortstop to put runners on the corners, but Han Yoo-seom singled to put runners on second and third, and Park Sung-hwan walked to put runners on first and second. Kim Min-sik's at-bat was followed by a throwing error by first baseman Lee Chang-yong. Go Myung-joon got a foul fly to the first baseman to end the inning.

Despite Won Tae-in's comeback, Samsung responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Won was replaced by 카지노사이트 Kim Tae-hoon in the seventh inning with Samsung leading 4-2. Samsung's bats came alive in the bottom half of the game, winning 8-2 and snapping a three-game losing streak.

Won, who threw 109 pitches, used a fastball (50), changeup (27), cutter (15), slider (14), and curveball (3) to keep the SSG bats in check. His fastball topped out at 148 kilometers per hour and had a 60.1 percent strikeout rate.

Won was placed on the disabled list after being removed from the first-team roster due to discomfort in his right shoulder after allowing two runs on four hits (one home run) with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings against Kiwoom on April 7. Won returned after 11 days of rest and showed his health by pitching effectively and showing his pre-injury form. Manager Park Jin-man welcomed Won's return in a postgame interview, saying, "Ace Won Tae-in pitched well after a long absence to end the team's losing streak."

In a post-game interview, Won Tae-in said, "The team has a jinx of winning and losing in a row lately, and if the jinx is anything to go by, today was a losing day. I wanted to break the jinx, and I personally wanted to make up for my poor performance in the last game against SSG. I think I was able to be the winning pitcher thanks to (Kang) Minho-hyung's lead and the batsmen."

"It's a little disappointing because if we had scored early on, we would have been able to take the game comfortably," said Won Tae-in. "Still, I want to thank the batters for turning the tables and leading the team to victory. I focused on my recovery during the roster purge. I think skipping the starting rotation gave me time to recharge my batteries so that I could pitch better than the games I didn't pitch."
